Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for South Shore

South Shore's tournament run continued when they took on Terry Sanford on Monday. The South Shore Vikings came out on top against the Terry Sanford Bulldogs by a score of 58-48. The win was all the more spectacular given the Vikings' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 63rd in New York, while the Bulldogs are ranked 13th in North Carolina).

Despite the loss, Terry Sanford still got an impressive performance from Ameya Brown, who posted 13 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. Brown is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Zaniya Reddick, who went 5 of 10 en route to 11 points.

South Shore is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Terry Sanford, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.

The future could be bright for both South Shore and Terry Sanford: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. South Shore will try to hand Madison their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 4:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Meanwhile, Terry Sanford will try to hand Harnett Central their fourth-straight loss when the two meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
