Baseball Game Preview: Truckee Wolverines vs. Nevada Union Miners

The Truckee Wolverines will square off against the Nevada Union Miners at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Truckee will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Truckee proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Carson. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolverines have posted since May 3, 2024.

Kevin Cabrera and Logan Arata did most of the damage at the plate: Cabrera went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Arata scored a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI Cabrera has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Keelan Hyams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Truckee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Nevada Union fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Roseville on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 5-4. The Miners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brogen Lyden was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Truckee's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Nevada Union, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.

Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Truckee hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Nevada Union struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
