Kerens came tearing into Friday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Cayuga Wildcats 9-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 21-1 last Tuesday.

Kannon Ritchie made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Ritchie wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was JJ Hightower, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another was Krayton Ritchie, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Kerens' victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Cayuga, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Kerens will challenge Avalon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Cayuga, they will face off against Wortham at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
