Baseball Recap: Houston Triumphs

Houston came out on top against Water Valley on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Hilltoppers never let the Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Hilltoppers haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Not much got past Tanner Boswell, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Water Valley off the board. Boswell has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cayden Box, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nathan Springer, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Houston now has a winning record of 3-2-1. As for Water Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Coming up, Houston is taking a road trip to square off against Center Hill at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Water Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Calhoun City at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The game will give the Blue Devils their first taste of in-conference action this season.
