Softball Game Preview: St. Mary's Prep Eaglets vs. Millington Cardinals

The St. Mary's Prep Eaglets will challenge the Millington Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

South Lyon hit St. Mary's Prep with a seven-run second inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eaglets lost 11-4 to the Lions. The Eaglets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Millington got the win against Ithaca on Wednesday by a conclusive 9-1. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.

Morgan Matusik made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Matusik was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashlyn Bentoski, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Karlie Sherman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Millington and bumps their season record up to 12-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for St. Mary's Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7-1.
