Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Victories for Lexington

Lexington had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Chester County on Tuesday. The Tigers blew past the Eagles 13-4. Considering the Tigers have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lauren Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on 13 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carly Williams, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinley Melton, who scored a run while going 4-for-5.

Williams wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Lexington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.

Lexington pushed their record up to 18-8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Chester County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.
