Basketball Game Preview: Nemaha Central Thunder vs. Olpe Eagles

The Nemaha Central Thunder will take on the Olpe Eagles at 7:25 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Nemaha Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 72-65 victory over Riley County on Friday. Given the Thunder's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Falcons are ranked 214th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Olpe had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.8 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 64-39 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matches by 23 points or more this season.

Olpe pushed their record up to 18-1-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points over those games. As for Nemaha Central, their win bumped their record up to 15-2.
