Fernley won the last time they faced Dayton and things went their way on Friday too. The Vaqueros came out on top in a nail-biter against the Dust Devils, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vaqueros have posted since February 27th.

Dylon Comer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 13 Ks.

On the hitting side, Riley McCullar was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Layne Minoletti, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Fernley and bumps their season record up to 5-13-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Dayton, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Fernley beat the Dust Devils by a score of 10-3 later that day.
