Baseball Recap: Capistrano Valley Takes a Loss

Monday just wasn't the day for Capistrano Valley's offense. They fell just short of the Trabuco Hills Mustangs by a score of 1-0 on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Cougars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Spencer Korzep was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Capistrano Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sammy Rucker, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Capistrano Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13-1. As for Trabuco Hills, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-7-1.

While Capistrano Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
