The Lake Travis Cavaliers will take on the Johnson Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated after 13 games, but that won't be the case come Friday.
Lake Travis is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past United 41-7. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won ten contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Lake Travis got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Vann Hopping out in front who rushed for 141 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Hopping showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 56 yards. Another passer making a difference was Luke McBride, who threw for 199 yards and four TDs while completing 74.1% of his passes.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lake Travis' defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Carter Buck and Braeden Lott, who racked up six sacks between them. Lott has been hot recently, having also posted six or more total tackles the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Johnson made off with a 29-28 win over Steele. The 29-point effort marked the Jaguars' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Johnson's win came from a few key players Lake Travis will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Elvis Estrada, who threw for 374 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76.3% of his passes. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in October. Bryson Thompson was another key player, picking up 147 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Johnson didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Steele to a completion percentage of just 35.3%. The Jaguars hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.63 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Johnson's victory bumped their record up to 13-0. As for Lake Travis, their win bumped their record up to an identical 13-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Lake Travis has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 164.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Johnson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 195.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Lake Travis against Johnson when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 55-27 victory. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
