Basketball Recap: Landon Hensley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Citrus over Belleview

Citrus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Belleview Rattlers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hurricanes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-59 back in December of 2024.

Citrus lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Landon Hensley, who posted 13 points and five assists. Another player making a difference was Braden Villanueva, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points.

Hensley wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Citrus was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Citrus' loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Belleview, with the win, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-8.

Citrus has already played their next matchup, a 95-40 defeat against Lecanto on the 10th. As for Belleview, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 52-31 loss against Lake Weir on the 10th.
