The Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions will square off against the West Point Dragons at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Mountain Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.

Mountain Ridge is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Hamilton just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against the Huskies, falling 15-7.

Mountain Ridge saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daisy Herrera, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most hits Herrera has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, West Point faced Westwood in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. West Point fell 15-10 to Westwood. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leilani Mendez led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Zerianna Gomez, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Even though they lost, West Point was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Mountain Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for West Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

West Point's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Mountain Ridge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 strikeouts per game.
