Lincoln County is a perfect 8-0 against Ripley since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Lincoln County's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Nitro. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Halli Byrd was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 games. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Richmond, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lincoln County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Ripley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Wildcats as they made off with a 10-2 victory.
Moriah Hatcher looked comfortable as she tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Austin Nichols, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lillian Crist, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
The win got Lincoln County back to even at 8-8. As for Ripley, their victory bumped their record up to 7-13.
Everything went Lincoln County's way against Ripley in their previous matchup back in March, as Lincoln County made off with a 16-3 win. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
