Basketball Recap: Galatia/Thompsonville Takes a Loss

Galatia/Thompsonville has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 25.31 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They were outmatched by the Pope County Pirates and fell 56-27. The Bearcats haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Pope County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bella Fasolo led the charge by going 7 for 13 en route to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Kenna Welter, who went 7 of 12 on her way to 14 points and six boards.

Galatia/Thompsonville's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Pope County, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Galatia/Thompsonville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pope County, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Cobden at 5:30 p.m.
