Football Game Preview: Wadley Bulldogs vs. Hubbertville Lions + How To Watch

The Wadley Bulldogs will challenge the Hubbertville Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Wadley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 52-8 victory over Meek. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Tigers are ranked 261st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jaquez Wilkes had a dynamite game, rushing for 237 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Cortavion Lynch was another major influence, as he rushed for 78 yards and ran in a TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wadley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 343 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meek only rushed for 34.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Hubbertville duked it out with Hackleburg on Friday. The Lions took their contest with ease, bagging a 42-6 win over the Panthers. The victory was just business as usual for the Lions, who after 12 games remain undefeated this season.

Hubbertville's win came from a few key players Wadley will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was William Rushing, who picked up 146 receiving yards and three TDs. That's the most receiving yards he has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Blaize Wakefield, who threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns.

Hubbertville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Cole Brand led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

Wadley's record is now 11-0. As for Hubbertville, their record now sits at 12-0.

Wadley strolled past Hubbertville when the teams last played back in November of 2021 by a score of 28-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
