Volleyball Recap: Pinewood Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Pinewood extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 12-4. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the King's Academy Knights. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Mailey Wang paced Pinewood's offense, picking up 17 kills. Wang got some help from Caitlin Yamaguchi and her 23 assists. Wang was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.

As for King's Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since September 11th.

Leading King's Academy to victory were Michaela Wu and Shuwen Jin. Wu had 42 assists and nine digs, while Jin had 14 digs. Those 42 assists gave Wu a new career-high.

Pinewood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Eastside College Prep on the 25th. As for King's Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Milpitas on the 25th.
