Baseball Game Preview: Willamina Bulldogs vs. Amity Warriors

Willamina and Amity are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will head out to take on the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Willamina will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Willamina took a 22-run defeat the last time they faced off against Amity, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Warriors 13-12. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Amity's part, Cordell Prevett put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. That's the fewest hits Prevett has allowed since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Asher Weiler and Diego Campuzano stepped up to the plate in a big way. Weiler got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI, while Campuzano went 1-for-4 with four runs and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Campuzano has snagged this season.

Willamina's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-17. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Amity, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Willamina has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Amity struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
