Volleyball Recap: Pleasant Falls Short of New Lexington in the Playoffs

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Pleasant couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the New Lexington Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Spartans' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Pleasant started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-22, 15-11.

Kamryn Roberts and Macy Hamper certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Roberts had 35 digs and five assists, while Hamper had 22 assists and five digs. Roberts has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 25 times she's played. Siri Veladanda also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Gracie Newlon had an outrageously good game for New Lexington as she had 27 digs and two aces. Those 27 digs gave Newlon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jorja Burkhart, who had 18 digs and three aces.

Pleasant suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 26-2. As for New Lexington, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 26-2.

Pleasant does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for New Lexington, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Lake Catholic on the 9th.
