Baseball Recap: Flanagan Gets the Win

Flanagan won the last time they faced Cooper City and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Falcons walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Cowboys.

Luis Colon looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Flanagan's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 5-1 (and 7-8 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Flanagan let Luis Gonzalez and Christian Duran-Robinson run wild. Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Duran-Robinson went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Duran-Robinson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caden Corzo, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Flanagan's win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Cooper City, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Flanagan will challenge American Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cooper City, they will welcome Coral Glades at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
