Baseball Recap: Union Catholic's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

Union Catholic lost against Somerville back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Vikings took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pioneers. The loss was the Vikings' first of the season.

Union Catholic got a good showing from Jake Revuelta, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Union Catholic saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Greg Viloria, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Viloria also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Union Catholic fell to 3-1. As for Somerville, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Union Catholic will square off against Rutgers Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 3.2, the Argonauts 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Somerville, they will be taking part in a tournament against Spotswood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Chargers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Pioneers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
