Basketball Game Preview: Barnstable Red Hawks vs. Cape Cod Academy Seahawks

The Barnstable Red Hawks will challenge the Cape Cod Academy Seahawks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Cape Cod Academy is hoping to do what Monomoy couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Barnstable's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Barnstable strolled past Monomoy with points to spare, taking the game 61-46.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cape Cod Academy). They blew past Sturgis West 75-38 on Wednesday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-11.

Barnstable better focus on containing Harrison Lauf and Mike Berry as the pair were huge in Cape Cod Academy's win. Lauf went 7 for 13 on his way to 23 points, while Berry almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. Liam Jatczak was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Cape Cod Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Barnstable pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Cape Cod Academy, their win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-3.

Barnstable didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Cape Cod Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 67-63 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Barnstable since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
