Softball Game Preview: Waukesha South Blackshirts vs. Mukwonago Indians

Waukesha South hasn't had much luck against Mukwonago recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Blackshirts will host the Indians at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Things were looking good for Waukesha South after they put the first runs on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 10-4 to Catholic Memorial.

Deanna Sanchez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and seven unearned) runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Alyson Staley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Layla Amerling, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Mukwonago came up short against Waukesha West on Monday, falling 13-3. The loss put an end to the Indians' undefeated start to the season.

Mukwonago saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paeton DeGroot, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mukwonago fell to 2-1. As for Waukesha South, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Waukesha South has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .446. However, it's not like Mukwonago struggles in that department as they've averaged .556. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
