Basketball Recap: Fountain Central Takes a Loss

Fountain Central suffered their closest loss since February 1, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Seeger Patriots by a score of 48-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mustangs have suffered against the Patriots since January 16, 2021.

Seeger found their leader in sophomore Garrett Cooksey, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds. Peyton Grimmett was another key player, putting up two points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Fountain Central dropped their record down to 3-8 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Seeger, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fountain Central will challenge Crawfordsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Seeger, they will face off against Attica at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Seeger is facing Attica at the right time seeing as Attica is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
