Football Recap: Salem's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

If Charleston wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Salem, they should've done a better job of containing Trey Clark. The Wildcats came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 32-23 on Friday for which the team can thank Clark, who rushed for 269 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. He has become a key player for Salem: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-5 otherwise.

Salem didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Troy Keele, Angel Salgado, and Caylen Patterson picked up one apiece. Salgado also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with ten.

Salem moved to 3-6 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Charleston, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

As of now, neither Salem nor the Trojans have any future games scheduled.
