Football Game Preview: Charlotte Catholic Cougars vs. Watauga Pioneers + Official Tickets

The Charlotte Catholic Cougars will face off against the Watauga Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Charlotte Catholic comes in on three and Watauga on 11.

Charlotte Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They really took it to A.C. Reynolds for the full four quarters, racking up a 27-0 victory. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cougars had established a 20-point advantage.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Garrett Nowlan and Max Whalen. Nowlan rushed for 93 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Whalen rushed for 72 yards and one score. Nowlan also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Charlotte Catholic is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 3-4 otherwise.

Charlotte Catholic was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 258 rushing yards. They are 6-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Meanwhile, Watauga took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 47-6 win over St. Stephens. Considering the Pioneers have won ten games by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Charlotte Catholic better keep an eye on Cade Keller. He was instrumental in Watauga's win, rushing for 64 yards and two TDs on only eight carries, while also throwing for 215 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. That's the most rushing touchdowns Keller has posted since back in September. A healthy portion of Keller's aerial production (119 yards to be exact) went to Nyle Peays.

Charlotte Catholic's record is now 7-4. As for Watauga, their record now sits at 11-0.
