Baseball Game Preview: Dilley Wolves vs. Hondo Owls

Dilley hasn't had much luck against Hondo recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wolves will look to defend their home field against the Owls at 7:00 p.m. Dilley has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Dilley lost 14-3 to Crystal City on Friday. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hondo). Everything went their way against Cotulla on Friday as they made off with a 17-2 win. The victory was nothing new for the Owls as they're now sitting on six straight.

Jaxson Williams was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Elizondo, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.

Hondo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cotulla only posted an OBP of .158.

Hondo's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Dilley, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
