Basketball Game Preview: Salado Eagles vs. Lago Vista Vikings

The Salado Eagles will face off against the Lago Vista Vikings at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Salado came up into this matchup off a tough 35-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Martin by a score of 52-50 on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while the Warriors are ranked 689th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lago Vista). They took their match last Friday with ease, bagging an 82-11 victory over Northeast Early College. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 26 points or more this season.

The win was the fourth in a row for Lago Vista, bringing their record for this year to 8-5. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.0 points per game. As for Salado, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.

Everything went Salado's way against Lago Vista when the teams last played back in January, as Salado made off with a 59-33 victory. Does Salado have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lago Vista turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
