The Wasco Tigers will challenge the Monache Marauders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Wasco took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Kennedy a 13-0 shutout. Considering the Tigers have won four matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Wasco got a massive performance out of Sienna Lugo, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Lugo also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Karime Raya, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Lugo wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Wasco kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for Wasco: they were averaging 4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monache). They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over Wasco on March 8th. The Marauders not only won on March 8th, but they posted their biggest win since May 17, 2024.
Sophia Martinez spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Amiee Rivas, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Mosqueda, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.
Wasco pushed their record up to 4-6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Monache, they now have a winning record of 3-2-1.
Wasco might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Monache in their previous meeting on March 8th. Will Wasco have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
