Buckfield has gone 6-1 against Carrabec recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Bucks will take on the Cobras at 10:00 a.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Buckfield sitting on five straight wins and Carrabec on six.
On Wednesday, Buckfield got the win against Old Orchard Beach by a conclusive 11-1. The Bucks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Carmen Crockett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chloee Bennett, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brittany Carrier, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Buckfield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Carrabec made easy work of Forest Hills on Thursday and carried off a 10-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cobras, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jillian Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Aiyana Tibbetts and Amiya Tibbetts did most of the damage at the plate: Aiyana went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Amiya went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Karen Baker, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Buckfield's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Carrabec, their record is now 6-0.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Buckfield has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Carrabec struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Buckfield took their win against Carrabec when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bucks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
