Softball Game Preview: Fort Worth Country Day Falcons vs. Hockaday Daisies

Fort Worth Country Day is a perfect 7-0 against Hockaday since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Falcons will take on the Daisies at 5:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fort Worth Country Day has four straight wins, Hockaday has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Fort Worth Country Day's victory against Fort Worth THESA wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Falcons had just enough and edged out the Riders 4-3.

Madeline Richey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Fort Worth Country Day saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracie Fuller, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. GG Hoover also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Hockaday lost 14-5 to Parish Episcopal two weeks ago.

Hockaday's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Fort Worth Country Day, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.

Hockaday's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Fort Worth Country Day has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Hockaday, though, as they've been averaging only 2.1 strikeouts. Will Fort Worth Country Day keep running through batters, or will the Daisies buck the trend?

Fort Worth Country Day took their victory against Hockaday in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Daisies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
