Softball Game Preview: Mission Hills Grizzlies vs. San Pasqual Golden Eagles

The Mission Hills Grizzlies will square off against the San Pasqual Golden Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Mission Hills will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Mission Hills came out on top against San Marcos on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Grizzlies blew past the Knights 9-1. That eight run margin sets a new team best for the Grizzlies this season.

Oloa Motas and Leah Llamas made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Motas tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Llamas didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single walk in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Motas went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Llamas went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most RBI Motas has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kennedy Dimmick, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lillian Sengsouly, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Mission Hills lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for San Pasqual's offense. They came up short against Del Norte on Wednesday, falling 6-0. The loss continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their meetings with the Nighthawks: they've now lost four in a row.

San Pasqual's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Mission Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.

Mission Hills skirted past San Pasqual 5-3 when the teams last played back in April. Will the Grizzlies repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
