Recap: Crystal Lake South Gators vs. Belvidere Bucs
The Crystal Lake South Gators were the 33-16 winner over the Belvidere Bucs when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Crystal Lake South was beaten by Belvidere 61-26 on Saturday. Crystal Lake South has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Belvidere's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Pierson, who scored 27 points along with 7 steals and 6 rebounds. The matchup was Pierson's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Arianna LaBeau was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with 7 steals.
Crystal Lake South bumped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Belvidere, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Crystal Lake South will be playing at home against Huntley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Huntley will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Belvidere, they will head out on the road to face off against Hononegah at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hononegah presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Belvidere in Illinois (Hononegah is ranked 27th, while Belvidere is ranked 330th).
