Baseball Game Preview: Andrew Jackson Volunteers vs. Hartsville Red Foxes

The Andrew Jackson Volunteers will take on the Hartsville Red Foxes at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Andrew Jackson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Central with a sharp 14-8 win on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Hartsville had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Gamecocks as they made off with a 13-7 victory. The Red Foxes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Web Barnes, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Hawkins, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Barnes wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Hartsville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.

Hartsville's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Andrew Jackson, their victory bumped their record up to 3-10.

Andrew Jackson came out on top in a nail-biter against Hartsville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. Will the Volunteers repeat their success, or do the Red Foxes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
