Softball Recap: Deer Valley Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

Deer Valley made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Westview, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Deer Valley's pitchers stepped up to hand Westview a 19-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Skyhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Adyson Ordway was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leila Hermosillo, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Avyanah Seely, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Deer Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .758. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Deer Valley is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. Westview's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
