Softball Recap: Moshannon Valley Comes Up Short

If Moshannon Valley was riding high fresh off their 18-2 takedown of Blacklick Valley last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Black Knights/Damsels lost 7-0 to the West Branch Warriors on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Black Knights/Damsels of the 11-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Moshannon Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison McCoy, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

With the loss, Moshannon Valley broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-4. As for West Branch, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.

Looking ahead, Moshannon Valley will head out to square off against Southern Huntingdon County at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rockets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Black Knights/Damsels' hitters will have their work cut out for them. West Branch has already played their next match (against Juniata Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
