Basketball Game Preview: Chadwick Dolphins vs. Polytechnic Panthers

Chadwick is 1-9 against Polytechnic since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Chadwick Dolphins will look to defend their home court against the Polytechnic Panthers at 3:30 p.m. Polytechnic took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Chadwick, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Chadwick turned things around against Lakeside on Friday. They strolled past the Lancers with points to spare, taking the game 42-28.

Meanwhile, Polytechnic was not able to break out of their rough patch last Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 35-34 heartbreaker at the hands of Holy Martyrs Armenian. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Polytechnic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Areni Ohanian posted 11 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Scholze, who put up nine points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Polytechnic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Chadwick's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Polytechnic, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Chadwick lost to Polytechnic at home by a decisive 35-20 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Chadwick avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
