It was a good run, but Whitesboro unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 60-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ponder Lions. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bearcats came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Lions are ranked 594th).

Whitesboro's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Ponder, they moved to 8-9 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Whitesboro will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pilot Point at 3:00 p.m. on December 31st. Pilot Point has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 187 points over their last three matchups. As for Ponder, they will take on Lake Worth in a tournament on December 28th. Ponder has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
