Soccer Game Preview: Desert Hot Springs vs. Cathedral City

The Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles will face off against the Cathedral City Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Desert Hot Springs' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Desert Hot Springs' offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Banning on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 715th, while the Broncos are ranked 275th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cathedral City, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Desert Mirage on Tuesday.

Cathedral City hit Desert Mirage with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Nefthali Lopez, Estevan Gavilan, and Angel Gomez.

Desert Hot Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 5-8-2. As for Cathedral City, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
