Lufkin is 3-0 against Texas since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Lufkin Panthers take on the Texas Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Lufkin is coming into the game hot, having won their last 26 games.

Last Friday, Lufkin was able to grind out a solid win over Hallsville, taking the game 43-30. The 43-point effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Texas earned a 60-52 victory over Jacksonville on Friday. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 280th, while the Fightin' Indians are ranked 589th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lufkin pushed their record up to 29-2 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home. As for Texas, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-10.

Lufkin took their win against Texas when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 69-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lufkin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
