Baseball Recap: Mount Greylock Regional's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak at Home

Mount Greylock Regional had lost three games at home, but after bumping their record up to 6-12 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the McCann Tech Hornets by a score of 6-3. This was a revenge game for the Mounties: when they faced off against the Hornets two weeks ago, they had to take a 7-4 loss.

Cam Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on eight hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Mount Greylock Regional is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Mount Greylock Regional let Jake Newberry and Malcolm Leyda run wild. Newberry went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Leyda went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Leyda a new career-high. Jameson Bayliss was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

As for McCann Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On McCann Tech's side, Dylan Turner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Hayden Barrett, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Greylock Regional will head out to take on South Hadley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for McCann Tech, they will venture away from home to face off against Chicopee Comp at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
