Baseball Game Preview: Clearfield Bison vs. Central Dragons

The Clearfield Bison will square off against the Central Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Clearfield is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against St. Marys on Wednesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Flying Dutch.

Clearfield saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braison Patrick, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Patrick has snagged this season. Another was Matt Irvin, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Meanwhile, Central had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers, sneaking past 4-2.

Coltin Harbaugh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, Central let Jay Hoenstine and Lukas Black run wild. Hoenstine went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Black went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Central's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Clearfield, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Clearfield took their victory against Central in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 14-8 score. Do the Bison have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
