Basketball Game Preview: Omaha Central Eagles vs. Skutt Catholic SkyHawks

The Omaha Central Eagles will head out to square off against the Skutt Catholic SkyHawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Omaha Central is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Omaha Central came up short against Papillion-LaVista South and fell 61-49. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Titans are ranked second).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Skutt Catholic). They took their game last Saturday with ease, bagging an 83-27 win over South Sioux City. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Skutt Catholic is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for Omaha Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Omaha Central beat Skutt Catholic 49-42 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Omaha Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
