Softball Recap: Pine Forest Takes a Loss

Pine Forest had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 3-10 to make it eight. They came up short against the Midway Raiders, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 on March 9th.

Pine Forest saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danica Schwab, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Midway, the win keeps them at an undefeated 10-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.0 runs this season.

On Midway's side, Kyleigh Stonerock made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Stonerock has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Macy Raynor was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Herring, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Looking ahead, Pine Forest will square off against Hoke County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bucks have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for Midway, they will take on Goldsboro at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 11.5 runs per game this season.
