Recap: Huntsville Hornets vs. Port Neches-Groves Indians
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Huntsville Hornets can now relate to. They took a 24-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians on Friday. Huntsville's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Port Neches-Groves' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Connor Bailey, who threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Nguyen, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Huntsville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Port Neches-Groves, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.
Huntsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Port Neches-Groves will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Liberty Hill. Liberty Hill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Port Neches-Groves is ranked 56th).
