Basketball Recap: Coffee Takes a Loss

Coffee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Houston County Bears 75-42. The Trojans were probably out for revenge after losing 63-46 to them when the teams met back in February of 2020, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Coffee's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jeremiah Bazell, who went 7 of 14 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds, and Brax Carson, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. Those seven boards gave Bazell a new career-high.

Josh Jackson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Houston County, going 8 for 13 on his way to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Malik Gillespie, who posted ten points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Coffee's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Houston County, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Coffee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-43 victory against Atkinson County on the 18th. Houston County has also already played their next match, a 58-50 win against Northside on the 18th.
