Basketball Recap: Danville Blue Devils vs. Fredericktown Freddies
Danville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 56-38 to the Fredericktown Freddies. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 718th, while the Freddies are ranked 163rd).
Leading Fredericktown to victory were Mya Bryant and Cally Carpenter. Bryant went 10 of 16 en route to 20 points and eight boards, while Carpenter went 6 for 12 on her way to 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That's the most points Bryant has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Bouton, who posted four points in addition to six assists and five blocks.
Danville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Fredericktown, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Danville will head out to square off against Northmor at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Danville is facing Northmor at the right time seeing as Northmor is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Fredericktown, they will host Mt. Gilead at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fredericktown will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
