Softball Recap: St. Stephens Indians vs. Freedom Patriots
St. Stephens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Freedom Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, with their most recent defeat being a 6-4 loss last Wednesday.
St. Stephens saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooke Hoyle, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Carter Barham also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
St. Stephens' defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Freedom, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-13.
St. Stephens has already played their next game (against West Iredell), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Freedom, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against South Caldwell at 6:00 p.m. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
