Basketball Game Preview: Ripon Indians vs. Escalon Cougars

Ripon has gone 8-2 against Escalon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Ripon Indians will head out on the road to challenge the Escalon Cougars at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Ripon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches.

Last Friday, Ripon didn't have too much trouble with Sonora as they won 57-41.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ripon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marcus Madoski, who posted 26 points and eight rebounds. The game was Madoski's 26th in a row with at least 15 points. Ethan Baur was another key player, putting up 12 points along with eight boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, Escalon suffered their closest loss since December 4, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Ripon Christian by a score of 47-44. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost three in a row.

Ripon is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.1 points over those games. As for Escalon, their loss dropped their record down to 15-11.

Ripon strolled past Escalon in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 53-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ripon since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
