Football Game Preview: Mannford Pirates vs. Seminole Chieftains

The Mannford Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the Seminole Chieftains at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Seminole took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mannford, who comes in off a win.

Mannford will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any points two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Victory Christian on Thursday. The Pirates breezed past the Conquerors to the tune of 48-14. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 28 points or more this season.

Luke Naylor produced another solid effort rushing for 129 yards and three scores on only nine carries, while also picking up 60 receiving yards. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Brayden Rodriguez was another key rusher, rushing for 102 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mannford was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 342 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Victory Christian only rushed for 150.

Meanwhile, Seminole fell victim to Sulphur and their airtight defense on Thursday. They were beaten by the Bulldogs 35-0. The Chieftains have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Mannford's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.4 points on average over those games. As for Seminole, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.

Mannford might still be hurting after the 44-21 defeat they got from Seminole in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Pirates were down 32-0.
