Baseball Recap: Shore Regional Comes Up Short

Shore Regional extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 9-9 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. John-Vianney Lancers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Blue Devils have suffered since May 20, 2024.

As for St. John-Vianney, they now have a winning record of 10-9. They haven't had any issues with Shore Regional recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

For St. John-Vianney's part, Matt Baczor looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Baczor a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Nick Mirto was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Tyler Shpiro was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Coming up, Shore Regional will head out on the road to challenge Colts Neck at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. John-Vianney, they will be playing at home against Barnegat at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
